Post-Easter Cleanup at Lake Casa Blanca

The Post-Easter Cleanup at Lake Casa Blanca (LCB) is a project that RGISC has been organizing since 2015. Every year, Lake Casa Blanca hosts anywhere from 7,000 to 10,000 visitors for the Easter Holiday weekend. LCB is happy to have so many families from all over Laredo join them in the Easter celebration. Many carne asadas are had and countless Easter eggs are cracked. Unfortunately, all of the festivities result in a tremendous amount of litter.

For the past two years, RGISC has coordinated with St. Augustine High School as well as other local volunteer organizations to do a post-Easter Blitz. Lake Casa Blanca park rangers identify three to four main areas where they need help cleaning up. RGISC then provides all volunteers with gloves, trash pickers, and trash bags. The volunteers are divided into groups which head out to the areas that have been identified by LCB. These cleanups usually result in the collection of tons of trash which is then disposed of properly.

We would like to thank any and all volunteers that have helped us out in the past two years.

The next scheduled post-Easter cleanup will be held on:

Monday, April 17, 2017.

A registration link for those wishing to volunteer for the cleanup will be available soon.

Please see below for pics from last year's cleanup as well as KGNS news stories that have covered the event.
