The Rio Grande International Study Center is Laredo’s only 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the city’s only source of drinking water, the Rio Grande.

Did you know the Rio Grande is an American Heritage River? id you know it is the 5th longest river in North America, and that, in Texas alone, it provides drinking water for 5 million people? 

But did you also know that it’s now the 7th most Endangered River in the world?

At RGISC, we have been on the front lines, working to reverse this trend, since our establishment in 1994. If you would like to read some of our achievements please look at our history.

Crucial to our mission is educating the next generation of Laredoans – as well as users throughout the watershed – on how to safeguard this vital source of life.

But we can not do this critical work without your help.

RGISC’s efforts to defend and restore the Rio Grande depend solely on your support. When you donate to RGISC, you will be helping a devoted group of individuals safeguard Laredo’s environment and preserve one of America’s greatest historic rivers.
