Danny D. Gunn Sr. - Sgt. at Arms
I am Texas born and have lived in Texas all my life except during my stint in the U.S. Navy. After military service, I worked for Central Power & Light (CP&L) for 36 ½ years where I worked in San Benito and Corpus Christi, before transferring to Laredo to work as an electrical foreman. I then became plant foreman in charge of maintenance at the Laredo Power Station and Eagle Pass Hydro plants.
I retired from CPL in 1994. As a farm boy, I grew up and remained an avid gardener all my life I became a Master Gardener and then became a Master Naturalist as I always loved nature. I am a member of the Native Plant Society of Texas. I became a member of RGISC in 1996 and joined the Board that same year.
I served as President from July 2010 to 2011 and currently serve as sergeant-at-arms. I also serve as an adviser to the community gardens.
My specialty is in plants and wildlife. I helped with the landscape of Lamar-Bruni Vergara Environmental Science Center and Volunteer and worked as a tour guide. Worked on the Paso Del Indio Nature Trail. Helped the City of Laredo layout and build several nature trails and consult and identify plants to use in city parks. I worked on a sub-committee for the Green Spaces Preservation ordinance and the Water Conservation ordinance. I enjoy the outdoors and working with others in making Laredo a better place to live for me, my family and the people of Laredo.
