For nearly 25 years, RGISC has served as Laredo's only environmental nonprofit organization. Our mission is to protect and preserve our only source of drinking water - the Rio Grande-Rio Bravo - and its environment . Our focus is preventing and reducing the introduction of toxins and other waste into the river, as well as preserving green spaces, regional wetlands and other fragile eco-habitats. We believe that the projects we undertake, the events we help coordinate, and the lives we help change will lead to a vibrant and colorful community here in South Texas. RGISC has acted whenever possible to reduce environmental threats through negotiation, public awareness campaigns, and community engagement. We continue to support economic development that is sustainable and improves the overall quality of life for South Texas residents. We currently network with several hundred volunteers of all ages throughout the year. Our efforts to defend and restore the Rio Grande, and our local green spaces, depend on your support. By becoming a RGISC member, you are helping to preserve our environment and one of America's greatest rivers.
